Green’s Creek Farm February 2017 Newsletter

BusyBeaverFarmThank you for your interest in the Green’s Creek Farm Newsletter! Our primary intent with this newsletter is to communicate which products are available for sale and where to find them. We will post information about upcoming markets and events, and share new projects we are working on throughout the season. In this issue, we thought it would be important to let you know a little bit about us. We look forward to meeting you!

In a nutshell, our farm team consists of two pairs of best friends who share a common interest in good food, good company, and good conversation. We work on the farm part-time because it is a lifestyle that we love. Our group consists of a teacher (Kim), a doctoral candidate in political economy (Chris), a community developer (Jordan), and a nurse (Jamie); together we bring a set of diverse skills and stories to the table. Our youngest members, Ellie and Felix, keep us all in check.

In lieu of the CSA”

We do not offer a traditional CSA [Community Supported Agriculture] vegetable share at this time. As seed-savers, we produce large volumes of a small selection of crops in order to select the best seeds!  Many seed operations will compost the plants that are not selected for seed. At Green’s Creek Farm, we sell the ‘rogued’ veggies at markets and process the rest, to use as much of the crop as possible.

This year, we are excited to be offering the option to pre-order vegetables online on a bi-weekly basis, for pickup at the Just Food Farm Stand on market days. Vegetables you can expect to see this summer will include (but not be limited to): tomatoes, lettuce, beans, peas, greens, squash, onions, garlic, cabbage, carrots, beets, sweet corn and a variety of herbs. Details to follow in later newsletters!
